JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – A miner died in a fall-of-rock incident at Anooraq Resources’ Bokoni platinum mine on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, the TSX- and JSE-listed miner reported on Wednesday.
Anooraq said the incident took place on Tuesday, when an employee was fatally injured at the mine’s vertical shaft.
The Mineral Resources Department has issued a Section 54 safety stoppage notice.
“The board of directors and management of the company and Bokoni platinum mines extend their condolences to both the family and colleagues of the deceased employee,” Anooraq said in a statement.
