TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Toronto-listed Osisko Mining on Tuesday said it had achieved a gold production record from its Canadian Malartic mine, in Quebec, producing 37 780 oz of the yellow metal in the month.
The mill recorded a monthly throughput of 1.3-million tons with the daily throughput reaching an average of about 41 935 t/d.
Ore grading 1.02 g/t gold was put through the mill, which achieved an average recovery of 88.6%.
“We are now beginning to see significant improvement in daily throughput and gold production from the Canadian Malartic mill. With the now completed pre-crushing circuit and the coming installation of the second pebble crusher early in the fourth quarter, we will be focused on plant optimisation and cost reduction,” Osisko CEO Sean Roosen said.
From when production started at the company’s flagship mine last year, Canadian Malartic had now produced more than 400 000 oz of gold during its ramp-up phase.
